What to do during the Coronavirus outbreak
Updated: Mar 17
As much as we would like to pretend nothing is happening and this is just another newsletter, there's no way to sugarcoat the impact of Coronavirus (covid-19). Not only has it affected upcoming festivals, concert halls, listening rooms, small music venues, bars, and restaurants, it has directly affected the entire Music community. So until everything reopens and is back to normal, all we can do is stay positive and calm and find other ways to occupy our time during this recovery.
The good news, we can still stay connected via social media, by phone, or by newsletter. It's a great time to reach out to your fans through a live feed or newsletter and for fans to support their favorite local artist! Artists, you can finally work on that song that you've been putting off and fans can take the time to discover new artists within the local scene.
Since most shows have been postponed, this is a great opportunity to work on your set and perfect that song that has been needing extra work. Perhaps this is a good time to connect with that Producer you've been wanting to work with, but couldn't seem to find the time.
This is also a great time to check out KGUP FM Emerge Radio! If you haven't already done so, go to https://www.kgup1065.com/listen-to-kgup to find the many ways to listen to KGUP. The preferred way is on the TuneIn radio app. You can also listen to our playlist on Spotify, Google Play Music, and you can even check out our YouTube playlist! And, be sure to watch episodes of Season 1 of KGUP PRESENTS on inDtv channel 140 on Universe Network (UNTV).
If you haven't already reached out to us to send us your music, now is a great time to do it. We are continually looking for the next big hit. Keep in mind, this isn't the typical radio station of 2010. We don't play any mainstream music and not all songs we receive make the cut. We are honestly looking for music that is cutting edge. We often go to many local live shows to keep a close eye to see who's on the rise and we observe who is being talked about. Just when you think KGUP isn't paying any attention, the truth is we are always watching.
So, what kind of music does KGUP exactly look for?
This is one of the hardest questions to answer, because each and every song on KGUP's rotation is different and unique in its own way. As time progresses, our rotation evolves with it. We are NOT looking for a copy of Billie Eilish or Dua Lipa and we're not looking for a rehash of Red Hot Chili Peppers or David Bowie. We are looking for original music that has a melody that makes your body move and makes the listener feel good and is current to what you hear in the live scene. To best understand what we are looking for, you've got to listen to KGUP FM Emerge Radio itself for at least an hour. KGUP's listeners tune in for an average of 4 hours, which is a great deal of time. We were also named, "Top 10 Internet Radio Stations to Listen to in 2020", so we must be doing something right!
Thank you to our listeners and thank you to the artists inside the KGUP family and we hope you are safe during this troubling time. While you are out of work, be sure to stay in touch with your friends and family.Time is short, so let's not take it for granted.Be sure to subscribe to our Spotify and Google Play Music channel and if you prefer to listen to radio the old fashion way, be sure to listen to our native 24/7 live radio station on the TuneIn radio app!(KGUP FM EMERGE RADIO) on TuneIn.com!
